Jamii Hospital was founded by two doctors, Dr Kubai and Dr Kibuku. They both had a vision to help their patients by providing quality and affordable healthcare particularly the needy whose income was wanting. They therefore both quit their government jobs and individually started their own private clinics in early 1980’s in Karatina town about 130 Kms North of Nairobi .
Having shared the same vision they then eventually decided to join forces and start a partnership, as this was a sure way of achieving more by working together.  This is what led to the establishment of Jamii Nursing Home which then targeted especially women who in most cases lost their children due to both pre and post natal care. 
In the year 1987, Jamii Maternity Center was established. The two young doctors started their joint partnership in a small office in Karatina town as an outpatient clinic. However they quickly realized that there was an urgent need for admission for some patients which resulted in them opening Jamii Nursing Home. As the patients’ medical requirement grew, so did the nursing home  . Eventually in January 14th 2002, Jamii Hospital was officially registered. 

 

 Jamii Hospital has two permanent Medical officers, four clinicians, twenty nurses as well as a wide array of other medical personnel. In total, Jamii Hospital has 103 medical and nonmedical personnel thus contributing positively towards rural employment and reducing migration from rural to urban areas and offering quality healthcare services.

Jamii Hospital has also provided admitting rights to consultants from different specialists. The consultants are able to carter for the different medical needs of the patients. This has greatly eased the burden to the patients who initially had to travel to as far as Nairobi to access specialized treatment.
